Now as most of us know, DA has a tendency to lean on the side of being militant at times when it comes to disagreements on how things are run and moderated.

The current contest that features Shepard Fairey as a judge: [link] has stirred up some controversy that should be a theme by now. While the message behind the contest is a good thing and I support love equality 100% that still does not excuse DA from promoting Fairey as a role model and icon in the art community. The man has been known to take images that weren't his and use them in his pseudo-propaganda 'art'work. While this should be expected from an art site where art theft is often overlooked if the report isn't from the original artist themselves but is clearly stolen, it still brings up a controversy that really shouldn't exist in a contest supporting love equality.

Using the excuse that others have done it before me is old and tired and shouldn't even be brought up. It reminds me of the parent question of "Well if everyone jumped off a cliff, would you do it too?". LOL That doesn't work past the age of 10. You are an adult, Fairey, take the responsibility and stop using others as an excuse. Using that method doesn't separate you from the hundreds of tweens on this site posting shit from Photobucket.

The moderators here are abusing their power and responding to disagreement like ten years using the 'oh yeah, well you suck' response. That is hardly the mature and necessary way to debate an issue. Invoking the 'You have a right to express your opinion but you have no right to judge' is also a popular response. I beg your pardon? Putting opinions to the side, the facts are still there and there's no way they can be construed as mere opinion.

My dislike at having this man be a judge should not be taken as 'whining' or an 'attempt to get the attention I never got as a child', thanks btw jackass replier. It should be a valid argument. But as we all know, this is DA and there really is no such thing.

DA needs to quit its drunken rampage of power and get back to what's really important, the art. The collective beauty of artists coming together and sharing ideas with one another without theft and without hate. Art evokes a lot of feelings from the human psyche but hate should never really be one of them. Love is what it should be about. So let's bring in more love and less hate and overlording.
